The FIGURA Wall Screen was a commision designed to create a visual barrier to a large open space without completely enclosing the room. Organic shapes are drawn and puzzle-pieced together to create a bold and playful pattern which is then cut out leaving the remaining border to be carved and shaped. Each curve is meticulously sanded and finished creating a soft figured edge.
The CANYON Collection emphasizes the interplay between natural and organic forms transitioning to a smooth and polished edge. The deep sculpted surface adds depth and texture, inviting tactile exploration and closer inspection. Smooth surfaces reflect light, creating an interplay of light and shadow that animate the piece with the changing environment.
This 8ft tall sculpture was recently commissioned for the lobby of the new JW MARRIOT in the heart of Dallas' Arts District. Made from layers upon layers of Birch Plywood, each layer is cut and stacked, then carved and shaped by hand. The surface is sanded and polished smooth then finished in a black dye and clear coat. Based on the ideas of death and rebirth, BLACK LOTUS is a slight departure from my purely design oriented objects and symbolizes something more personal. An open vessel, appearing almost large enough to give shelter or to envelop the viewer in its ominous dark petals, can feel both intimidating and comforting in its presence.
The CANYON Wardrobe is a new commissioned work and a new addition to the CANYON Collection. Featuring a composition of hard edged shapes conjoined by sculpted valleys. This monolithic form is carved 360 degrees around, creating a wardrobe on one side and a headboard on the opposing side. Custom sizes and compositions are available upon request.
